Bill Kohl oversees the strategic and operational direction of Greenwood Hospitality Group's portfolio of hotels. Additionally, he directs the Company's activities in restaurant development, concept design and re-positioning. Mr. Kohl's portfolio experience includes oversight of many high-profile assets, direct responsibility for opening eleven hotels as well as concept design of over twenty-five restaurants.
During his thirty-five-year career, Bill has received several honors including The Pennsylvania Tourism and Lodging Association's General Manager of the Year and the American Hotel and Lodging Association's State Leadership Award. Kohl has been featured in Lodging Magazine and has had restaurants featured in Bon Appétit, Gourmet and Colonial Homes Magazine as well as the Central Pennsylvania Business Journal. His restaurants consistently achieve the AAA Four Diamond Award and several have won the coveted DiRōNA Award. He has twice been recognized by Restaurant Hospitality Magazine as a Top of the Table Award winner for restaurant design. Bricco, one of his concepts, was twice awarded the prestigious "Culinary and
Hospitality Award" by Santé Magazine recognizing it as the number one restaurant in the Mid-Atlantic Region for quality of food and service and one of nine award winners nationwide. A wine specialist, Kohl has consistently been recognized by Wine Spectator Magazine for innovative wine lists and programs. His wine lists have routinely received the “Best of Award of Excellence” from Wine Spectator. Within the industry, he frequently lectures, teaches, and writes about wine and food.
In 2014, Greenwood Hospitality Group won all four of Marriott's Franchise Brand Awards including the Guest Relations Award, Spirit to Serve Award, Excellence in Food and Beverage and the Marriott Partnership Award. In 2015 Greenwood once again won the Excellence in Food and Beverage Award and was entered into Marriott's Partnership Hall of Fame. Mr. Kohl currently serves on the National Restaurant Association's Education Foundation Board and the National Restaurant Association’s Board of Directors and is the immediate Past Chair of its Political Action Committee. He is a past Director of the American Hotel and Lodging Association, Past Chair of both the Pennsylvania Restaurant Association and the Pennsylvania Tourism and Lodging Associations. He currently serves as a member of the Marriott Food and Beverage Advisory Committee and the Renaissance Hotels Owners' Advisory Board. He was awarded an honorary Doctorate degree
