MOSES LAKE, WA - August 15, 2024 - In a step to address the funding crisis faced by the Moses Lake School District, owners of the Fairfield Inn & Suites Moses Lake have committed to a charitable donation of $10,000 to Community Athletics and Activities (CAA), the nonprofit initiative aimed at sports and extracurricular programs for the upcoming school year.
Earlier this year, an accounting error revealed a $20 million deficit within the district, prompting the potential cancellation of all athletic and extracurricular activities. By being among the first local businesses to contribute to this cause, the hotel's owners, The Hotel Group (THG) and Hogback Development Company, hope to inspire others in the community to support the nonprofit’s mission and ensure that students continue to benefit from these vital programs.
“I’ve had the privilege of being a track coach at Eisenhower High School, and I’ve seen firsthand the incredible impact that sports programs have on our students,” said Chris Waddle, co-owner of Hogback Development Company. "The dedication, teamwork, and character they develop is truly inspiring. When I heard about the troubles facing Moses Lake School District and the potential shutdown of these extra-curricular activities, I knew we had to help. This donation is a way to give back and ensure that our kids continue to have these invaluable opportunities. I hope others in the community will join us in supporting this cause and keeping these programs alive."
Fairfield Inn & Suites Moses Lake’s contribution will be matched by CAA, the nonprofit organization leading the fundraising efforts, effectively doubling the impact of this donation. This collaborative effort underscores the power of community partnerships in addressing pressing challenges.
The donation is aligned with THG's long-standing commitment to partner with and support organizations in the communities where they operate hotels.
